ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Established by the Rockbridge Regional Library Board of Trustees in 1992, the Rockbridge Regional Library Foundation supports the Rockbridge Regional Library System by seeking, investing, and distributing contributions from individuals and corporations to provide for the future of the library system.
A superior library system can best be assured by guaranteeing that additional funds will be available each year for special collections and programs, enhancements in services and facilities, equipment for patrons and staff use, and other activities that a library system of highest quality should offer.
Providing such funds is the goal and purpose of the Rockbridge Regional Library Foundation. The Foundation develops and conducts formal fundraising programs on behalf of the Library, which may include solicitations of gifts for annual operating purposes as well as for endowment and special projects. Cash, securities, trusts, bequests and other forms of planned gifts will be sought, as well as corporate and business contributions.
In all fundraising efforts, the Foundation is guided by the needs and plans of the library as defined by the Library Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of the Library communicates regularly its plans and priorities and the Foundation reports regularly to the Library Trustees on its activities and progress.
The Rockbridge Regional Library Foundation is separately incorporated and controlled by a board of directors who establish investment policies and strategies to provide appropriate stewardship of funds collected.
Foundation Directors each serve a four year term and are eligible to serve an additional term of four years. Directors are nominated and elected by the members of the Foundation.
